IFAW campaigning for the Universal Declaration for Animal Welfare

It is shocking to consider that even now there is no global, intergovernmental recognition of the importance of animal welfare legislation. IFAW believes this must change, which is why we support the Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare (UDAW). The adoption of this formal declaration at the UN General Assembly would establish animal welfare on the global political agenda.

The declaration process was originally launched by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) in 2000. IFAW is part of the UDAW steering committee and is collaborating with other animal organisations in support of the Declaration.

The Declaration is an important way for governments to express their commitment to protecting animal welfare and is a vital springboard to changes in international and national policies and animal legislation. It would help strengthen enforcement of animal welfare measures and promote humane treatment of animals in every corner of the world.

El maltrato animal debe ser condenado de la misma forma que se condena a los seres humanos por los crimenes a otras personas, es importante destacar que los actos aberrantes que llevan a las personas a cometerlos es signo de que ya no estan bien ubicados en esta sociedad y que tienen ya una patologia de hasta diria dementes, hay muchos maltratadores y abusadores de animales en el mundo entero, que seguramente han cometido crimenes hacia las personas que no sabemos, y que los tienen bien ocultos, Diria que es imprescindible ya una ley con una base fundamental para todos los animales del mundo sin distincion de especie, por una unica razon que los actos cometidos hacia ellos, pueden ser tambien hechos a los seres humanos y que son un peligro para la sociedad. No hay que pasar por alto ningun maltrato hacia ellos, ya que ello lleva a que se siga pensando que los animales no deben ser respetados y por ende dejar que los niños se eduquen con esta base ya deficiente en la sociedad, todo empieza con ellos, que son el futuro de buenos hombres o de asesinos, el ejemplo de las leyes deben ser mostradas con fundamentos legibles confeccionados en base al respeto de todo el reino animal, y que debe ser condenado todo aquel que cometa cualquier acto de crueldad por el mas leve que sea ya es una razon para pensar que ese ser humano tiene inclinaciones de criminal.

I am against all kinds of killings of innocent animals and birds. The conditions of our mentality are such that the animals will continue to be killed. I am against meat-eating, but it is not going to make a difference. But remember, caring is possible only when we are in a position to take care. Without the facilities and the wherewithal, caring is impossible. We have to be pragmatic; it is no use being sentimental.

Civilization of the country is reflected in her attitude toward animals, they are much more honest than men, and absolutely helpless with man..If you do not want your children to grow up violent robots, keep humane attitude towards animals!!!
