Purpose:
As part of IFAW’s online fundraising strategy, write and/or edit IFAW’s online marketing and fundraising materials in order to increase online fundraising and campaign effectiveness. Also works closely with other Online Campaign & Marketing staff to help educate IFAW campaigners on best techniques for maximizing income and influence in all online materials. Creates or edits other web content as appropriate available and under direction of Creative Director.
Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize, and write email messages for a wide range of IFAW campaigns to ensure maximum income and effectiveness.
- Work with OCM staff to Under the direction of the Creative Director, test new techniques and refine the style and “voice” for messages to effectively convey campaign and fundraising goals to each target audience.
- Refine website copy to enhance search engine rankings for key IFAW campaigns.
- As available, and in collaboration with Director for Online Campaigns and Marketing, create and/or edit web pages and other online content in support of IFAW’s objectives.
- Collaborate with other Online Campaigns and Marketing, Philanthropy, Programs and Communications staff to develop key messaging for campaigns and fundraising.
- Researches, implements and evaluates new web-based technologies as necessary.
- Assist with other special projects as requested by the Creative Director or his designee.
Requirements:
- 2+ years’ experience as an online copywriter with a demonstrable knowledge of the medium – preferable with some fundraising experience.
- A clear understanding of the ‘brand’ concept and how to support the brand values in all communications.
- A creative thinker with the ability to translate complex animal welfare issues into motivating revenue generating or relationship building copy.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- The ability to keep calm under pressure.
- Commitment to, and familiarity with, animal welfare and conservation-related issues.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and balance multiple tasks.
