</div> <div class="node-body"><p>A new app has been created to promote whale friendly tourism in Iceland.</p> <p>The free &lsquo;Whappy&rsquo; app, launched today in Reykjavik by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), contains information about whale friendly restaurants, which have pledged not to serve whale meat, as well as whale watching operators, whale friendly souvenirs and an scientific committee of the conservation body for whales, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) begins its meeting in San Diego this week (May 19-June 3), it is being urged to follow the lead of an expert review panel and strongly reject Japan&rsquo;s plans to resume Antarctic whaling.</p> <p>The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), wants the scientists to make a clear recommendation whether Japan&rsquo;s plans for a continuation of so-called &lsquo;scientific whaling&rsquo; in the Southern Ocean should go ahead.</p> </div><p><a the meat and opposition at home and abroad to the bloody trade in the endangered whale species, the shipment, believed to be the entire stock from last summer&rsquo;s fin whaling season, has been of Japan&rsquo;s new plan for whaling in the Southern Ocean, published today, failed to back the proposal for further slaughter and concluded that no more whales need to be harpooned for Antarctic research.</p> <p>In today&rsquo;s International Whaling Commission (IWC) report, a Panel of top scientists has concluded that Japan has not demonstrated any need to kill any more whales in the Antarctic.
