He was found this spring severely underweight after being orphaned prior to hibernation last fall. After being cared for by the Northern Lights Wildlife Society (NLWS, <a href="http://www.wildlifeshelter.com">www.wildlifeshelter.com</a>) since June, Littlefoot has gone from a scrawny 28 pounds to a hearty 98 pounds. He was released yesterday away from human activity near where he was found. Littlefoot has been fitted with a satellite collar and will be monitored for the next 18 months.</p> </div><p><a href="http://www.ifaw.org/united-states/news/rescued-yearling-grizzly-cub-returns-wild-near-cranbrook-bc-pilot-project" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Animal rescue Bears bears British Columbia Ministries of Enviroment Forest Grizzly bear Lands and Natural Resource Operations Northern Lights Wildlife Society orphan bears Mon, 25 Aug 2014 16:40:06 +0000 adintino 101199 at http://www.ifaw.org New York State Assembly passes bill putting distance between public and big cats http://www.ifaw.org/united-states/news/new-york-state-assembly-passes-bill-putting-distance-between-public-and-big-cats <div class="field field-type-date field-field-date"> <div class="field-label">Publication Date:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <span class="date-display-single">Thu, 06/19/2014</span> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image-optional"> <div class="field-label">Image:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image_optional" width="300" height="200" alt="" src="http://d2mlnkprj9wd81.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/tiger_seizure_ny_300px.jpg?1403188402" /> </div> </div> </div> <div class="node-body"><p>The New York State Assembly late yesterday signed bill A.9004-C/S.6903-C (Rosenthal/Avella) into law.&nbsp; Introduced by Assembly Member, Linda B.
