In samenwerking met de Emirates Dog Breeders Society en met steun van de politie van Abu Dhabi heeft de IFAW-kantoor Midden Oosten en Noord-Afrika in Abu Dhabi voor de tweede keer de trainingsworkshop ‘Bestrijding van illegale handel in wilde dieren' georganiseerd.

De vijfdaagse workshop werd in oktober gehouden in het Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

        今天,法国政府践行了去年12月总统奥朗德在爱丽舍宫的峰会上许下的承诺,销毁了3吨法国海关在过去20年所罚没的非法象牙。这些象牙在埃菲尔铁塔附近被销毁,法国生态、可持续发展和能源部部长菲利普·马丁(Mr. Philippe Martin)和法国总统保护地球特使尼古拉斯·于洛(Mr. Nicolas Hulot)出席了销毁仪式。

        被销毁的象牙包括698根原牙和15,357件牙雕,主要是由海关在戴高乐机场罚没的。仅在2012年,法国海关总署就开展了57次调查,共查获346件象牙及象牙制品, 主要来自刚果、尼日利亚和几内亚。

The US Government today announced it is invoking the Pelly Amendment which certifies Iceland for undermining the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) over its continued slaughter of whales and trade in whale meat.

As one of the original petitioners, The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) commends United States Secretary of Interior, Sally Jewell, for acknowledging that Iceland’s whaling is diminishing the effectiveness of CITES.
