Ms. Kathleen Savesky has been appointed the new Chair of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW - www.ifaw.org), bringing a wealth of animal welfare and education expertise to the role.

Ms. Savesky has more than 35 years of leadership in the not-for-profit and higher education sectors, predominantly focused on animal welfare.  She has significant experience in vision-centered strategy and program development as well as leadership coaching.

A former Executive Director of the Bosack and Kruger Foundation, she has been a member of the IFAW Board since 2005.  Ms. Savesky has also worked as a consultant and advisor to a wide range of organizations including PetSmart Charities and A Kinder World Foundation and is an Associate of the Centre for Animals and Public Policy at the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Ms. Savesky also serves on the Board of Directors of the North American Friends of Chawton House Library and the Board of Advisors of the Humane Research Council.

“We are delighted that Kathy has accepted the position of Chair of the IFAW Board of Directors and look forward to her guidance and support in our work to rescue and protect animals around the world,” said IFAW CEO and President, Fred O’Regan.  “Kathy’s passion for our cause and commitment to excellence will help us to continue to maximize impact in every aspect of our work, and I am excited to work with her in this new role.”

“IFAW is a unique organization working to save individual animals, as well as delivering effective solutions for the long-term protection of animal populations and habitats,” said Ms. Savesky.  “I feel very honored to accept this position and hope to make real progress towards our shared vision of a world where animals are respected and protected.”

Ms. Savesky replaces Mr. Thomas C. Ramey who has served as IFAW’s Chair for the past 10 years.  During his term, Mr. Ramey applied the skills he honed as Chairman/President of a major international corporation to oversee the development of IFAW into the most effective international animal welfare organization.

“Tom Ramey has made an enormous contribution to IFAW, and I want to thank him for his dedication and insight and wish him every success with his future endeavors,” said IFAW CEO Fred O’Regan.
