Susannah Calderan is a marine mammal scientist, with a particular interest in cetacean acoustics and ecology. Having graduated from the University of Wales, Bangor, with an MSc in Marine Mammal Science, Susie first worked with the Song of the Whale team in 2005 for a harbour porpoise survey off West Africa.
She then worked on visual and acoustic surveys around the British Isles, before joining the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust in 2006. She ran the field research onboard the Trust's vessel Silurian for three years. Since then, she has worked on surveys around the world, particularly in the Pacific Ocean.
Susannah joined the SOTW team again in 2011 for the Dogger Bank survey and has worked with the team during 2012 in the Azores and for the research passages to the USA and Iceland.
