Dr. Akram Darwich
As a Programme Manager, Dr. Eissa Darwich supports wildlife trafficking and consumer awareness projects located in Middle East and North Africa.
Prior to joining IFAW, Akram served as a scientific advisor for the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs and head of biodiversity and protected areas directorate in Syria.
During his work in Syria, he was the National Focal Point for several conventions and agreements as CBD, CMS, CITES, AEWA and ACCOBAMS
He brings more than 20 years' experience in environment, wildlife and conservation issues. He also contracted with IFAW for three years as a trainer on CITES issues in Arab Region.
He holds a degree in Biology from Damascus University and the PhD degree in Zoology from the Bulgarian Academic of Science.
