Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders

Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders (EWCL) is a training and mentoring initiative that brings together twenty new, emerging leaders in the wildlife conservation field for capacity building and intense training in campaign development and leadership skills, including implementation of a two-year group international wildlife issue campaign.

EWCL is a collaborative effort supported by numerous conservation organizations, including US Fish & Wildlife Service, White Oak Conservation Center/Howard Gilman Foundation, Defenders of Wildlife, Wildlife Conservation Network and the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

The class is chosen every two years by a competitive application process, with all costs for selected U.S.-based conservationists being covered by the generous support of EWCL sponsors.  International conservationists are encouraged to apply if they have identified a source of funding to cover up-to three flights to the United States for training during the two year course.
