Northern Dogs Project - 2007
The Northern Dogs Project is one of IFAW's Community Linked Animal Welfare (CLAW) initiatives, providing primary veterinary care, humane education, rehoming services, and assistance with legislation to disadvantaged communities around the world.
In 2007 the Northern Dogs team entered into its eighth James Bay
Cree community, where a remarkable 42 animals were treated during Wemindji's
first clinic.
The IFAW Northern Dogs team has spayed and neutered 193 animals (mostly dogs), and vaccinated 285 so far. Although the focus of the project is to spay and neuter dogs to help maintain manageable dog populations, the team also provides needed vet care to other animal health issues that arise.
