Be informed
If you are an IFAW supporter, please read our newsletters to keep informed of the issues on which we are working and be sure to complete and mail the postcards that are included in many of our mailings. If you are interested in obtaining additional copies of our newsletter, action cards or any other items you receive in our mailings, please send us a sample or a description of the item you would like. If you are not yet a supporter of IFAW, a donation of any amount will place your name on our file and you will begin receiving our newsletters. Please remember that the donor slip and return envelope included with each newsletter are for the convenience of those individuals who wish to send a donation each month, or for a specific campaign

Spread the word
Share your knowledge with others. Let your friends, relatives and co-workers know what you have learned about the abuses inflicted on animals. Pass on the information you receive from IFAW. If you are a student, use animal topics for your school or club project; if you have children, encourage them to do the same. If you are interested in obtaining additional information on IFAW campaigns to share with friends or to distribute in your community, please contact us at these addresses.

Write letters
If a newsletter includes an address of a person influential in a particular issue and asks you to write, please do. This kind of support is very valuable to IFAW, and our successes prove that letter-writing campaigns do work! Write to your representatives in Congress and ask for their support. You may obtain names by calling your local library or your local League of Women Voters. Also, write letters to the editor of your newspaper when you read articles that deal unsympathetically with abuse of animals. If you become aware of any animal abuse in your community, contact your local humane society.

Using our materials
You may reprint information or photographs you receive in our mailings in articles you write for newspapers, magazines, or newsletters as long as you clearly indicate in the article (or under photographs) that the information was reprinted with the permission of IFAW. Also, we would appreciate receiving a copy of any publication in which you use our materials.

Petitions
If you would like to create petitions for animal issues, please feel free to do so. Simply gather signatures and send your protests to the appropriate officials. If you would like to write to presidents, ambassadors or officials of other countries regarding animal welfare issues in those countries, you may obtain their names and addresses from the respective embassies in Washington, DC. Simply call Washington, DC directory assistance at (202) 555-1212 and ask for the telephone number of the embassy in question.

Careers working with animals
Contact your school career counselor or the reference department of your library.

To physically help
If you would like to physically help an animal welfare organization in your own area, please check the yellow pages of your telephone directory under "Animals" or contact your Chamber of Commerce. If you are unable to locate local groups, please let us know and we will be happy to try to locate one for you.

Monitor the media for IFAW
If you see IFAW mentioned in a newspaper or magazine, please send us a copy of the article(s) with the name and date of publication. If IFAW is mentioned on TV, please send us an email or drop us a card with the date, city, network, channel and a brief description of the subject.
