Understanding the threats to North Sea porpoises

A new report suggests that up to half of the porpoises washed ashore in Belgium and the Netherlands have been accidentally killed in fishing gear. The report on the harbour porpoise in the southern North Sea was compiled by The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBNIS), the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
