Reinventing Wildlife Conservation for the 21st Century

 That version and the present one are both based largely on David Lavigne's  opening remarks to the IFAW Forum 2004 - Wildlife Conservation: In Pursuit of Ecological Sustainability, and the wrap-up talk from that forum, which he co-authored with Rosamund Kidman Cox, Vivek Menon and Michael Wamithi.  Parts of the present paper were published just prior to the Forum (see Lavigne, D.  2004.  The Return of Big Brother.  BBC Wildlife, May.  pp 66-68); they are reprinted here with the permission of the then editor, Rosamund Kidman Cox.
