Reaching out to TM Practitioners, Schools and Suppliers
IFAW's strategy to reduce the commercial
exploitation of endangered species used in traditional medicines (TM) includes
protecting wildlife habitat, reducing consumer demand, and preventing illegal
trade.
To control the exploitation of wildlife, IFAW collaborates with
government agencies and TM practitioners, schools and suppliers.
We work
to raise awareness in the international community that the expanding consumer
market for animal products – if unregulated -- will lead to increased poaching
for the black market trade and the potential extinction of some species.
IFAW is partnering with TM students in the United Kingdom, China and the
United States to bring endangered species education into the TM
curriculum.
