Faceless poachers and faceless elephants.

One group scurrying away with their bloodied tusks, hoping to sell their grim booty to another faceless middle man in a dusty corner of the world; the other group lying dead, tuskless, simply faceless.

I look across the elephant world and consider the work that we are doing.

Celebrating International Women’s Day - Amazing women doing incredible things

In a casual conversation today, I learned that some of my colleagues were unaware that today is International Women’s Day: a day that is celebrated as a holiday in some countries and passes by largely un-noticed in others.

Whatever the official status of the day, it is a time when we can pause to reflect on the many gains that women have fought so hard to attain and that many today take for granted.

Four bear cubs were brought to the International Fund for Animal Welfare bear rescue center from the Central Forest Nature Reserve in Russia; three females and one male.

The tourists walked in the buffer zone of the reserve alone without the reserve staff.

They were too near the den not knowing it.

UPDATE: Mass dolphin stranding event has officially ended, yet strandings contin

IFAW MMRR volunteers care three dolphins while they await release back into the sea during a recent mass stranding event.The mass stranding event of common dolphins in Cape Cod that started in January 12, 2012 officially ended on February 16th with a total of 179 stranded dolphins.
