Aujourd'hui, la Tanzanie a annoncé qu'elle retirait sa proposition controversée visant à vendre 100 tonnes d'ivoire à la Chine et au Japon. Cette proposition devait être discutée en mars prochain à Bangkok (Thaïlande), à l'occasion de la prochaine réunion de la CITES (Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d'extinction).

        日本捕鲸船已离港驶向南极水域,计划捕杀约千头鲸类。

        国际爱护动物基金会(International Fund for Animal Welfare,简称IFAW,www.ifaw.org.cn)对日本政府依旧用纳税人的钱来支持这种毫无必要的屠杀活动表示失望。这些资金如果用于支持本国的观鲸产业会更有意义。

        根据日本媒体的报道,日本捕鲸船无视全球的反对和多个国际法规,目前正驶向南大洋鲸类保护区(Southern Ocean Sanctuary),捕杀935头小须鲸和50头濒危的长须鲸。日本政府每年提供数百万美元纳税人的补贴来维护趋于老化的船队。

        尽管存在全球商业捕鲸禁令,日本仍在南极水域打着所谓“科研捕鲸”的旗号捕杀鲸类。IFAW认为日本的捕鲸行为不过是商业捕鲸的冠冕叫法。

        韩国已经确认采用非致命性的鲸类研究计划,来代替残忍的所谓“科研”捕鲸。

        自去年7月韩国政府在巴拿马首都巴拿马城召开的国际捕鲸委员会(IWC)年会上宣布了其计划开始实施所谓的科研捕鲸之后,韩国政府收到了来自世界各地数万公众发来的抗议邮件,其中很多人是IFAW的支持者。

        递交正式提案的最后期限是12月3日,在这一天,韩国政府并没有发出官方声明。而IWC目前已经正式确认,韩国决定转而进行非致命性的研究。

        IFAW也表示愿意尽全力帮助韩国开展人道的非致命性研究。IFAW有一组全身心投入的科学家和船员驾驶IFAW“鲸之歌”号科考船在全球各地开展鲸类研究。在非入侵性鲸类研究领域,IFAW已具备丰富的经验和专业知识。
