IFAW and others NGOs Joint feedback on the EU Action Plan against Wildlife Tr

The Communication on the EU Action Plan by the European Commission was published in February 2016. According to IFAW and other animal welfare NGOs the plan should be targeted at ensuring that the EU dedicates sufficient resources and political attention to the issue of wildlife trafficking. Most of the recommendations have been incorporated, but in this paper we also recommend other measures that could facilitate its effective implementation. In general we recommend to have dedicated funding for Europol, EU-TWIX and Member States and to have a dedicated Wildlife Trafficking Commissioner, similar to the Human Trafficking Commissioner, to oversee coordination, funding, & planning across DGs of the Action Plan.
