CITES Pocket Guide - CoP17 - 2016

The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) sponsors a Conference of the Parties (CoP), a global gathering held every 3 years to discuss a wide range of issues that have a significant impact on endangered animals and plants. As observers to the CoP, IFAW reviews and analyzes the proposals under consideration by the CoP, takes positions and makes recommendations.

This document is designed to provide Party delegates and representatives from observer organisations and non-Party States with a concise introduction to the Convention in order to enhance discussion and debate on implementation issues.
