Space for elephants to roam free and safe at Kenya’s Amboseli National Park, grew by nearly 16,000 acres today, with the signing of a lease agreement between the local Maasai community and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW – www.ifaw.org).

Am 5. Juli legte ein Schiff mit sechs Containern mit Finnwalfleisch aus Island im Hamburger Hafen an. Es kam aus Rotterdam, wo die Hafenbehörden kurz zuvor angekündigt hatten, dass in Zukunft kein Walfleisch mehr über den Rotterdamer Hafen laufen soll.

As the International Court of Justice hearing of Australia’s case against Japanese whaling in the Antarctic drew to a close today (Tuesday), the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) hopes it will bring an end to so-called scientific whaling and grant better protection for whales.

It may be several months before a ruling from the three-week hearing is announced, but IFAW believes the sham of scientific whaling, commercial whaling by another name, was exposed for all to see during the case.
