Lost whales return to ocean
A quick interruption in the latest from the IWC to pass along this bit of good news: the mother/child pair of humpback whales who had become "lost" in an inland freshwater area of northern California are believed to now be back in the Pacific ocean. The were last spotted near the Golden Gate Bridge on Tuesday evening, and scientists were unable to spot them on Wednesday, leading to speculation that the two whales had finally returned home. The pair were first spotted in the Sacramento River on May 13th.
