Even Icelanders Don't Like Whaling

The following post is from my colleague, IFAW Emergency Relief Responder Wit Davis:

I wanted to share with you these shocking images of Iceland's renewed commercial whale hunt.

These are images of a fin whale, which are second only to blue whales in terms of size. Iceland whalers have killed seven fin whales to date under their renewed commercial whale hunt -- and these whales are considered endangered! Iceland whalers have also killed the first minke whale, which is smaller than the fin whale, and is considered to be lively and curious. In fact, minke whales often come up to whale watching boats out of curiosity -- and they don't know the difference between whale watching boats and whale hunting boats so they're probably easier to kill...

Stunning and inspiring photography. How he managed to keep the camera steady in the midst of what can be only be descibed as a brutal crime scene is amazing...Congratulations and thankyou for bringing them to us.

this is totaly against all laws of nature--- the small ones are killing, exterminating the giant ones-!!!???
I remember a movie ( I watched when I was young girl) "ORCA the killer whale"
and- THAT HORRIFIC SCENE-I cant ever forget---- WHEN THEY (fish-hunters) are getting mommy whale out of the water- getting her high into sky with crane-----and from her (from her belly) little baby whale is slipping onto boats floor!!!
aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh--------blood and her scream!!!!!!
I CANT FORGET IT--- ( I WAS VERY YOUNG IN THAT TIME- AND THAT IS INGRAVED INTO MY BRAIN) - I HATE THOSE KILLER FROM THAT DAY!!!!
