WATCH: EU voices united in support of the seal ban: "Global implications"

In case you missed it, be sure to WATCH: EU voices united in support of the seal ban – "Taking action"

The pending decision of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) panel regarding whether the European seal product ban violates trade obligations goes beyond seals and will have great implications on the animal welfare movement as a whole.

In this video, International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) EU Regional Director Sonja Van Tichelen explains that at the heart of the case is the fundamental issue of the right of a group of citizens to declare that they do not want certain products in their countries due to ethical concerns, such as animal welfare.

Establishing precedent at the WTO that countries do in fact have this right will empower citizens around the world to have a larger voice in ensuring the products in their countries are cruelty free.
