The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans is deciding whether to accept the Senate recommendation and go ahead with a cull of 70,000 grey seals. Independent marine scientists oppose a cull and warn that it is unlikely to help fish stock recovery. The cull would cost an estimated $42 million in Canadian tax dollars.
