IFAW Second Sydney Panel Summary

The Second Sydney Panel of Independent Experts was asked to consider the legality of Japan's proposed new "scientific" Antarctic whaling program, NEWREP-A, in light of the International Court of Justice's judgment on Japan's previous whaling program and events since that judgment. The Panel was also asked to examine options available to Australia, New Zealand and other states in relation to the Government of Japan's proposed resumption of Antarctic whaling in the Austral summer of 2015/16.
