Record Bosnian rainfall has people and animals struggling to cope
Last week Bosnia was hit by the worst rainfall since 1894, when record-keeping began and devastating floods have now affected vast areas of the country. Evacuations and assessments of the overwhelming damage are still underway.
Our minds and hearts are with the people of the region and their animals as they struggle to cope under truly terrible conditions.
In the video above, we see a group of people attempt to rescue a dog trying to escape a flooded canal filled with debris.
Our partners at the UNDP are keeping us briefed on developments and assessments of animal needs as they become available.
From the midst of the wreckage we are seeing heartwarming videos and pictures coming out of people doing their best to help their animals; a trait we have seen first-hand among Bosnians.
We will keep you updated as we learn more about the situation on the ground and what is needed.
