De steenarend in haar beschermende bandage in IFAW's BCCR.Deze steenarend begon haar leven in noordelijk China, waar ze in alle vrijheid het luchtruim doorkruiste. Ze werd geboren om de lucht onder haar vleugels te voelen en om de aarde vanaf grote hoogte te overzien. Toen werd ze het slachtoffer van een stroper.

World Trade Organization condemns dolphins to cruelty with ruling

Yesterday, the World Trade Organization ruled against the U.S. dolphin-safe label requirement, dealing a major blow both to US consumers and dolphins. 

This ruling is a troubling precedent that will give pause to global leaders as they consider whether even voluntary environmental or animal welfare standards might be deemed trade barriers. 

With today’s worrisome decision, both dolphins and consumers suffer.

Recognizing those who have done something outstanding for animals, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW; www.ifaw.org) today announced the recipients of its U.S. Animal Action Awards. Winners ranging from high-school teenagers to government officials will be honored at an exclusive awards-reception in Cape Cod, Massachusetts on May 22—the first time since 2007 that the awards have been given in the United States.
