Wetstone to lead IFAW U.S. expansion

IFAW currently has offices in 15 countries and an international headquarters in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts. The appointment of Mr. Wetstone initiates the process of establishing a major new U.S. presence, including new IFAW offices planned for Washington D.C., Los Angeles, New York and Miami.

Mr. Wetstone will direct all IFAW's work in the United States including protection of wildlife, marine mammals and habitat, work with companion animals in disadvantaged communities and aid to animals affected by natural and man-made disasters such as hurricanes, floods and oil spills.

Mr. Wetstone joins IFAW following 11 years at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) during which he served as the organization’s first Legislative Director, Director of Program and, most recently, Director of Advocacy. Prior to joining NRDC, Mr. Wetstone served for more than a decade as Counsel to the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

IFAW and NRDC have collaborated closely for many years on issues such as marine mammals, habitat protection and ocean noise. Mr. Wetstone is expected to strengthen that working relationship in his new role.
