Once near death on the streets of Mexico, Coconut the dog has now found his forever home

Watch the amazing transformation and joyful new beginning from what had been a tough start for Coconut the dog.

In June, during a trip to the remote, south east side of Cozumel, my IFAW colleagues and I came upon a stray dog covered in used motor oil and little more than skin and bones.

He was starving and scavenging for anything to eat. With the help of our local partner, the Humane Society of Cozumel Island (HSCI), we took the dog we fondly named Coconut in for immediate care.

He had tested positive for heartworm, but after a few months of recovery, he has now found a new home with one of my close colleagues here on Cape Cod, where IFAW is headquartered.

Coconut's story wouldn't have been possible without donations from supporters like you.
