Gathering around a tree during the holidays

The camera traps that capture video of the Amur tigers in the Russian Far East often pick up a whole host of species.

The placements of the cameras are very strategic; some focus on a particular tree that scientists know animals will all wander by and mark with their scent. Others will investigate who else has stopped by, and in the case of one bear and one boar in the video, sometimes they’ll use the tree for a good back- or neck-scratching.

Enjoy your holiday season, no matter what type of tree you gather around.
