Patricia has had a passion for animal welfare since hearing about the seal hunt as a young girl in Canada. In the fall of 2000, an opportunity arose to work for IFAW and made that passion a reality. Patricia brings her background in finance, human resources and project management to IFAW Canada’s projects and campaigns. The belief that efficient administrative systems are the backbone of a successful organization has driven Pat to support enhancements to IFAW policies, procedures and best practices both in Canada and as a member of international projects.
For the past six years, Patricia has been a key member of the core Canadian seal huntwatch team. Each year the IFAW seal team travels to the ice floes to document the Canadian commercial seal hunt, record Marine Mammal Regulation violations and monitor the effects of climate change on the seal populations. As logistics lead, Patricia is the main point of contact for staff and consultants at hunt watch, which involves everything from contracting helicopters to ensuring that Canadian government observer permits have been renewed on a daily basis. She ensures the administration and technological infrastructure are organized so the IFAW team can focus on documenting the cruel hunt for seal pups.
In her current role as Country Representative, Patricia the point person for all corporate, financial and human resources areas and collaborates on the identification and implementation of strategic priorities in Canada.
